Peugeot 308: Updating procedure : Map update - IVI audio-navigation system
The IVI audio-navigation system map is updated via OTA (Over The Air).
The update via OTA (Over The Air) allows for (*) :
- Automatic updates of essential maps
- Automatic updates as required
OTA (Over the Air): a standard for the transmission and reception of application-related information in a wireless communications system.
(*) In countries where a "Connected Navigation Plus" package is available : Map update via OTA (Over The Air) only available with Connected Navigation Contrat.
1. Update of the IVI audio-navigation system map via OTA (Over The Air)
1.1. Automatic map updates
Essential map updates are downloaded automatically without any action required.
The IVI audio-navigation system automatically updates the map of the region (**) where the vehicle is located and of the regions it passes through.
(**) The European map, defined by TomTom, is divided into 159 regions.
N.B. : TomTom is a registered trademark of its company.
1.2. Additional map updates via a secure Wi-Fi network
Option to carry out additional updates (***) by connecting the IVI audio-connection system to a secure Wi-Fi network.
(***)The update of the complete map of European countries is carried out manually by the user.
1.3. Management of maps via secure Wi-Fi network
Option to manage map content (****) by connecting the IVI audio-connection system to a secure Wi-Fi network.
(****) Removal/addition of entire countries located in Europe and addition of countries not located in Europe.
2. Automatic update of the IVI audio-navigation system map via OTA (Over The Air)
The IVI audio-navigation system automatically updates the map of the region where the vehicle is located and of the regions it passes through.
2.1. Journeys within a single region
The IVI audio-navigation system checks whether new map updates are available on the TomTom server at each vehicle starting phase.
The IVI audio-navigation system downloads the map update for the region where the vehicle is located.

2.2. Travelling from one region to another
A daily trip may involve travelling through more than one region ; The IVI audio-navigation system checks whether new map updates are available on the TomTom server when the vehicle crosses the boundaries of the region where it is located.
One or more maps of new regions are downloaded with or without IVI audio-navigation system active guidance.

3. Connection to a secure Wi-Fi network for additional map updates and management of maps via a secure Wi-Fi network
3.1. Connection of the IVI audio-navigation system to a secure Wi-Fi network

3.2. Map management via a secure Wi-Fi network
CAUTION : The IVI audio-navigation system has been connected to an secure external Wi-Fi network for at least 5 minutes.
