Peugeot 308: Draining - filling - level : AMN8 / ATN8 type automatic gearbox

ATN8 TYPE GEARBOX

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

gearbox oil : Index "B14" .

4. Oil capacity

CAUTION : It is necessary to drain the gearbox and put back the exact quantity of oil, in the event of an external leak or a repair.

N.B. : Visually check the sealing at each service visit.

5. Draining

CAUTION : The gearbox oil must only be drained when the oil is hot 63 °C (+ 3°, - 3°) to remove the impurities that are in suspension in the oil.

Check the automatic gearbox oil temperature ; Using the diagnostic tool.

N.B. : The oil change is partial, since the converter cannot be totally drained.

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

Remove the under-engine protector (depending on equipment).

Remove :

• The oil level plug (1) using a torx wrench
• The drain cap (2) ; Using a 6-sided wrench

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

N.B. : Approximately 3 litres of oil should flow out.

Allow oil to flow out.

Refit :

• The drain cap (2) (equipped with a new seal)
• The top-up plug (1)

6. Filling

Remove :

• The air filter housing
• The ancillaries battery and its support
• The filler cap (3)

CAUTION : Ignore the information mentioned on the tool [0340].

N.B. : Replace the recommended quantity of oil.

N.B. : Use only recommended products .

Fill the gearbox ; Using the tool [0340].

Refit the filler plug (3) (equipped with a new seal).

7. Check the oil level

Prior conditions :

• Vehicle level
• Check that the gearbox is not in downgrade mode
• Switch off the air conditioning
• Remove the filler cap (3)
• Add 1 additional litres of oil in the gearbox
• Apply the brakes firmly and move the lever through the various selector positions
• Gear lever in position "P"
• Engine running at idle
• Oil temperature 63°C (+/- 3 °C)
• Check the automatic gearbox oil temperature ; Using the diagnostic tool

Remove the top-up cap (1).

7.1. Stream of oil then reducing to a sequence of drips

Refit the oil level plug (1) (equipped with a new seal).

7.2. Sequence of drips or nothing

Refit the oil level plug (1).

Switch off the engine.

Add 1 litre(s) of additional oil in the automatic gearbox.

Repeat the top-up procedure.

N.B. : The level of oil is correct when the stream of oil becomes drop by drop.

Refit the oil level plug (1) (equipped with a new seal).

7.3. Check the oil level (Continued)

CAUTION : Too low a level causes destruction of the gearbox.

Refit :

• The oil filler plug (3) (equipped with a new seal)
• The under-engine protector (depending on equipment)
• The air filter housing

Return the vehicle to its wheels.

Too high a fluid level can cause :

• Overheating of the fluid
• Fluid leaks
