Peugeot 308: Stripping-assembling : Components internal to the reduction box

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

CAUTION : Respect the conditions for cleaning and refitting the reduction box .

CAUTION : Mark the positions of the components prior to removal.

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

2. Tooling

The recommended tools should be used .

3. INPUT SHAFT

3.1. Stripping

Remove the circlips (1).

Remove the input shaft bearing (2) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the input shaft bearing (3) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the circlip (4).

Remove the park finger locking pinion (5) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

3.2. Assembling

CAUTION : Oil the input shaft splines when refitting the park finger locking pinion (5).

Refit :

• The park finger locking pinion (5) ; By means of tools [0346-E], [0556-C] and a press
• The new stop ring (4)

Fit the new input shaft bearing (2) ; By means of tools [0346-C], [0556-C] and a press.

Refit :

• The new input shaft bearing (3) ; By means of tools [0346-C] and a press
• The new retaining rings (1)

4. Output shaft

4.1. Stripping

Remove the output shaft bearing (6) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the output shaft bearing (7) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the circlip (8).

Remove the output shaft slave pinion (9) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

4.2. Assembling

CAUTION : Oil the output shaft splines when refitting the output shaft slave pinion (9).

Refit :

• The output shaft slave pinion (9) ; By means of tools [0332-H], [0556-C] and a press
• The new stop ring (8)

Refit the output shaft bearing (7) ; By means of tools [0346-C], [0556-C] and a press.

Refit the output shaft bearing (6) ; By means of tools [0346-C], [0556-C] and a press.

5. differential box

5.1. Stripping

Remove the 8 differential crown wheel bolts (10).

Remove the differential crown wheel (11) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the differential bearing (12) ; By means of tools [0346-B], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove the differential bearing (13) ; By means of tools [0346-D], [0556-C] and a press.

Remove :

• The pins (15)
• The planet wheels shaft (20)
• The satellites (17) complete with their thrust cups (16)
• The sun gears (18) complete with their cups (19)
• The sun gear centraliser (14) opposite the crown wheel

5.2. Assembling

Refit :

• The sun gear centraliser (14) opposite the crown wheel
• The sun gears (18) complete with their cups (19)
• The satellites (17) complete with their thrust cups (16)
• The planet wheels shaft (20)
• The pins (15) (new)

Fit the new differential bearing (13) ; By means of tool [0317-D] and a press.

Fit the new differential bearing (12) ; By means of tool [0317-D] and a press.

Line up the 8 new differential crown wheel (11) bolts (10).

Refit the differential crown wheel (11) ; By means of tool [0346-C] and a press.

CAUTION : Observe the tightening order .

Tighten the 8 new differential crown wheel (11) bolts (10) .
