Peugeot 308: Repair procedure : Air conditioning circuit (Special feature for hot and humid countries and very hot countries)

1. Effects of the climate on the air conditioning circuit

Where there is significant humidity, this seeps into the flexible ducts of the air conditioning circuit.

This moisture will then saturate the filtering and drying cartridge and then settle in the oil in the air conditioning circuit and may result in the corrosion and breakage of certain components in the air conditioning circuit.

ESSENTIAL : Maintain and renew the desiccant properties of the cartridge to protect the air conditioning circuit from moisture.

3. Specific procedure on the air conditioning circuit

3.1. Special feature for replacement of the filtering and drying cartridge

CAUTION : The filtering and drying cartridge must not remain in the open air, even when connected to the air conditioning circuit (Risk of humidity saturation).

The filtering and drying cartridge (or the air conditioning condenser if the cartridge is not removable) must be replaced in the following cases :

• Systematically every time the cold loop is opened (Even if no components are replaced)
• If the residual pressure in the circuit is less than 0,5 bar relative (or 1,5 bar absolute)

After positioning the filtering and drying cartridge (or the air conditioning condenser if the cartridge is not removable) :

• Carry out a vacuum extraction for a minimum of 35 minutes
• Fill the refrigerant circuit

3.2. Precautions to be taken for the air conditioning compressor oil

CAUTION : The air conditioning compressor lubricant is extremely hygroscopic, use new doses when carrying out work.

Quantity of oil to add when filling if the filtering and drying cartridge has been replaced :

• 15 cm3 of oil if the filtering and drying cartridge has been dismantled
• 30 cm3 of oil if the air conditioning condenser has been replaced (Filtering and drying cartridge that cannot be removed)

3.3. Replacement intervals for the filtering and drying cartridge

The filtering and drying cartridge must be replaced every 2 years (Excluding operations).
