Peugeot 308: New vehicle preparation : Rules for checking the ancillaries batteries of new vehicles

1. The different steps of the ancillaries battery check

A : Factory vehicle parc.

B : Subsidiary vehicle parc - Importer vehicle parc - Subcontracted vehicle parc.

C : Network vehicle parc.

D : New vehicle preparation.

If the storage and/or preparation of the new vehicles is subcontracted, this method must :

  • Be communicated, for application, to all the subcontractors carrying out these operations
  • Be mentioned in the contract binding the dealership to its subcontractor

N.B. : All storage requirements are set out in the B20 0410 standard.

1.1. "major flow" requirements applicable to all types of vehicle storage area

The "major flow" requirements apply to internal combustion, hybrid, rechargeable hybrid and electric vehicles with PSA electrical architecture, with ancillaries batteries connected in storage areas.

N.B. : The ancillaries battery may be disconnected during transit or during exceptional operations.

N.B. : (*) Bill of loading "DC41" and/or "Loose items check sheet (FFA)" present in the vehicle.

Example recommendation for exceptional disconnection of the ancillaries battery : For Fleets and Major Accounts, disconnect the ancillaries battery during storage after delivery at the temporary parking site and before the vehicle is actually put into service.

1.2. Special requirement for vehicles with an electrical architecture not designed by PSA

The ancillaries battery must be disconnected in the following cases :

  • PCD vehicles with an electrical architecture not designed by PSA( C1, 108, BOXER, RELAY)
  • OV vehicles with a Legacy electrical architecture (Exception for ASTRA K, INSIGNA E2 and VIVARO B vehicles, which do not require disconnection of the ancillaries battery)

N.B. : This requirement does not apply to vehicles delivered to customers within 5 working days.

1.3. Specific requirements for importer vehicle fleets

Types of requirements that may be applicable and that are the responsibility of the region :

  • Ancillaries battery disconnected
  • Systematic replacement of the ancillaries battery if the vehicle has been in storage for more than 12 months

2. Methods of application of the (ancillaries) battery standard

The ancillaries battery checking, charging or replacement operations must conform to the methods available on the manufacturer’s after sales documentation portal.

Access route : " vehicle / General / Repair procedures / New vehicle preparation" :

  • Check of the ancillaries battery
  • Instructions for use - "E-XTEQ" battery tester (The procedure for updating the "E-XTEQ" tools can be accessed in this method)
  • Instructions for use - "MIDTRONICS" battery tester (The procedure for updating the "MIDTRONICS" tools can be accessed in this method) (*)

N.B. : (*) 3 months after the deployment of the "E-XTEQ" battery tester in the country, it is mandatory to use it during New Vehicle Preparation (NVP) ; "MIDTRONICS" codes/tickets will no longer be accepted as proof under warranty.

The replacement ancillaries battery must :

  • Be new
  • Belong to the original replacement parts range
  • Have the same characteristics (Size of tray, Voltage, Starting current, Power capacity)
  • Not be out of date (Refer to the information on the ancillaries battery)
  • Be charged then checked "good"

3. Administrative process for charging and replacing the ancillaries battery

Every ancillaries battery charging or replacement operation must result in the entering of a credit claim via "SAGAI" or "e-PGC" (For all vehicles except China).

3.4. Conditions to be observed

The replaced ancillaries battery must be kept for the duration defined in the "Warranty Standards and Methods".

Any credit claims that do not conform to the warranty standards and methods will be rejected definitively (particularly in the absence of the "E-XTEQ" report or the "MIDTRONICS code" description)(*) .

N.B. : The "Warranty Departments" always check the coherence of the "E-XTEQ" report or the "MIDTRONICS code" description communicated by the authorised repairers of the manufacturer brand(*) .

The customer’s folder, filed by the "New vehicle distributor (NVD)" following the delivery of a new vehicle, must include :

  • The bill of loading "DC41" and/or the "Loose items check sheet (FFA)"
  • The "New vehicle preparation (PDI) check-list"
  • The "New Vehicle Preparation" diagnostics report printed or stored in the form of a ".html" computer file in the PDI folder and accessible on the "DIAGBOX ©" desktop
